Git Credential Manager Core

Git Credential Manager Core (GCM Core) simplifies authentication with Azure Repos Git repositories

Git Credential Manager Core comes with Git for Windows.

In order to provide a consistent authentication expierence across multiple platforms, GCM Core replaces

• the .NET Framework-based Git Credential Manager for Windows (GCM),
• and the Java-based Git Credential Manager for Mac and Linux (Java GCM)

GCM Core provides multi-factor authentication support for

• Azure DevOps
• Azure DevOps Server (formerly Team Foundation Server)
• GitHub
• Bitbucket.

GCM Core is built on .NET Core and runs on Windows and macOS. As of 2021-02, Linux is supported in an early preview.
