The keyboard configuration file. It describes the properties of the keyboard.
Sample configuration file:
XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="us"
XKBVARIANT=""
XKBOPTIONS=""

BACKSPACE="guess"
XKBMODEL specifies the keyboard model name. Default is pc105. See /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/xorg.lst
Apparently, this file is not present in an Arch distribution.
The keyboard file is read by setupcon.
